Claremont Center Community

Claremont Neighborhood Centers, Inc., is a 501 C-3, not-for-profit, community based agency, operating from 489 East 169th St., Bronx, New York 10456, whose mission is to provide innovative afternoon, evening and weekend recreation and education programs to area youth and adults that engages them in positive and proactive pursuits that are engineered to provide and foster opportunities for collaborative working relationships that demonstrate skills improvement and/or development; improved sociability skills, and physical health; and improved academic performance and achievement.

We have successfully developed, administered implemented important service oriented and prevention programs for high-risk youth for over 35 years: providing after school programming 160 youth each year for the past twenty-five years; summer camp for 100 youth for the past 30 years; academic support activities; Karate-for the past ten years open to all ages; Fresh Air Fund placement; Youth Employment; Internship Placements; Service Learning; Computer Literacy; Fathers Programs; and day care.

Our History

The Claremont Center has a rich history of serving our community for over three decades. What began as a small grassroots initiative has grown into a comprehensive community resource center that touches thousands of lives each year.

1985

Claremont Center was founded by a group of dedicated community members who identified a need for affordable childcare options for working families in the neighborhood.

1992

Expanded services to include after-school programs for school-age children, providing a safe and enriching environment for youth during the critical after-school hours.

2001

Launched the CAPP initiative in partnership with local health organizations to address growing community health education needs.

2010

Implemented the PREP program to provide comprehensive youth development services focusing on personal responsibility and positive decision-making.

2018

Renovated and expanded our facilities to better serve the growing community needs and increase program capacity.

Today

Claremont Center continues to evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs of our community, always guided by our "Community First" philosophy and commitment to excellence in service.

There are many ways to get involved with our organization! What areas do you serve?

Claremont Center primarily serves the Claremont community and surrounding neighborhoods. However, some of our programs and services may be available to residents from adjacent communities depending on capacity and program requirements.

Are Claremont Center programs free?

Program costs vary. Some of our programs, such as CAPP/PREP, are offered free of charge thanks to grant funding and community support. Others, like our day care and some after-school programs, have associated fees based on a sliding scale to ensure affordability for all families. We strive to make all our services accessible regardless of financial circumstances and offer scholarships and subsidized rates for qualifying families.

How is Claremont Center funded?

We maintain a diverse funding model that includes government grants, foundation support, corporate partnerships, individual donations, and program fees. This diversified approach helps ensure our sustainability and ability to serve the community effectively regardless of changes in any single funding source.

Does Claremont Center accept donations?

Absolutely! As a nonprofit organization, we welcome and greatly appreciate donations of all sizes. Financial contributions can be made through our website, by mail, or in person.
