The Board of Directors, as the; governing and oversight body of Claremont Neighborhood Centers, Inc. (CNC) and its two subsidiary day care centers; Louis A. Fickling Child Development Center and Aleene Logan Pre-School Center, is committed to our mandate to provide leadership, guidance and support which strengthens Claremont Neighborhood Centers position as one of the premier providers of quality programs, services and activities in the Bronx. Claremont Neighborhood Centers mission is to provide innovative afternoon, evening and weekend recreational and educational programs to area youth and adults; which; engages them in positive and proactive pursuits that are engineered to provide and foster opportunities for collaborative working relationships that demonstrate skills improvement and/or development; improved sociability skills, and physical health; and improved academic performance and achievement. We have a long and solid history of service provision in this community, and, in fact, are currently providing program and services to second, third and fourth generations of residents from the four NYCHA developments (Morris, Morrisania, Webster and Butler) in the Claremont Village complex. Since its founding in 1956, thousands upon thousands of New York City workforce, many in leadership and administrative positions, and many still living in the Bronx credits Claremont Neighborhood Centers as the place where they found refuge, was able to learn and develop new skills and has been able to make successful transitions to adulthood. The Board’s vision for Claremont Neighborhood Centers since 2011 as we move forward is the provision of the kinds of programs that are evidenced based with staff; training and clear guideline; for program; delivery that maintains; fidelity; and results; in; proven participant outcomes. With full endorsement of the Board of Directors, under the Directorship of Abraham Jones, Claremont Neighborhood Centers, Inc. has transitioned into the 21st Century by providing strong leadership with solid direction and a broad, but focused, vision by infusing new technology, hiring better prepared staff which possess experience and education by securing funding streams and extending services and opportunity for Bronx residents.
